Little Shop of Horrors

Calix Brooks

From Friday, March 21st to Sunday, March 23rd, students will be performing the famed musical Little Shop of Horrors. If you seek a fun and (somewhat) gory evening, this show is for you!

Little Shop of Horrors is a well-known and beloved dark comedy musical which has amassed large audiences since its off-Broadway debut in 1982. The story revolves around a florist shop worker named Seymour Krelborn (played by George Weaver) who discovers a very peculiar plant during a solar eclipse. He then names this plant Audrey II after his coworker and secret crush, Audrey (played by Maya Cross). As the plot unfolds, Seymour realises that his new plant has an unfortunate appetite for human flesh.

As the plant grows, so does its insatiable hunger, leading Seymour down a dangerous moral impasse. The more flesh Seymour feeds Audrey II, the more he gains fame, fortune, and attention from his crush, Audrey. This musical encompasses Seymours’ sacrifices and moral dilemmas when faced with challenging decisions.

If you enjoy catchy and early rock ‘n’ roll inspired music, be sure to stop by on Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 7pm, or Sunday at 2pm! The show’s unique story, filled with laughter and dark humour, has made it an enduring classic in musical theater.
